In this post I would like to talk about all the good things MJ is known for. Since I don’t believe any of the allegations that was bought against him and I have pure respect for MJ I’m not gonna talk about that. Also I’m not gonna talk about how he died. I don’t have the facts and most importantly I would never disrespect his memory with what was done to him. I’m more of a person who celebrates life rather than Mourn death. Though I must admit this is one of my more emotional pieces, for this man has touched me personally just through my love for music alone. On June 25, 2009 I found out the King of Pop had passed away. I was 5 months pregnant and thought I was gonna die. You would’ve thought I knew him personally. As I’m sure half of the world reacted in that way. A true star was taken away from us and it hurt. On August 29, 1958 our King of Pop was born. Michael Joseph Jackson would touch the lives of millions of people world wide through music and his love for the human race. Joining his brothers at the age of 5, Michael became the group’s lead vocalist. The Jackson 5 opened for people like James Brown and Gladys Knight and the pips. Catching Berry Gordy’s eye he signed them in 1968 to his label. Their first single ” I Want You Back”off the album Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5 hit No.1 on the BillBoard. With singles like “The Love You Save”, “I’ll Be There” and “ABC” being chart toppers, MJ launched a solo career still working with his brothers. Besides music, the Jackson 5 had a cartoon from 1971 to 1973. With issues between Gordy and Jo Jackson. The Jackson’s would be signing with Epic Records and leaving Motown, except for Jermaine Jackson in 1975. Michael went on to star in my favorite musical “The Wiz”. In 1979 he hit the world with his “Off The Wall” album spitting out his Grammy Award song “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”. And three years later he hits us again with the “Thriller album which birthed 7 top ten hits. And at a “Billie Jean” performance MJ debuted his dance move called the “Moonwalk”. (I still cannot do that dance) His video directed by John Landis “Thriller,” would change music videos forever, not to mention he raised the bar for all artist. How can you do better than the best? Who stays on the charts for 80 weeks, holds the #1 spot for 37 weeks and gets nominated for 12 grammys and wins 8 but Michael Jackson. With a 5 million dollar Pespi deal, a hit with Mick Jagger and the We Are The World project under his belt he would be releasing his “Bad” album. Now, I have a personal experience with the Bad album. Back when 98.7 was more like Hot 97 you used be able to call up answer questions and win things. Needless to say, the answer to the question that I can’t remember was MJ’s Bad. I called in and won the Bad album and an LL Cool J album. I was so happy. Anywho, the Bad album put out 5 No.1 hits. In 1997 MJ’s Son Prince Michael Jackson was born and in 1998 MJ’s Daughter Paris Michael Jackson was born. Last but not least Blanket Joseph Jackson was born.
Michael was also a humanitarian. He founded the Heal the World Foundation, sending millions of dollars around the world helping children threatened by war, poverty and disease. There you have it, a short walk down memory lane. There is so much he has done and it would take a book to write about it. In my opinion there will never be another Michael Jackson! May he Rest In Peace.
